Hi, I have a 1902 engine that is shot. Iam told that the 1902 is no longer made or around. I would like to know what the replacement engine is? Maybe something with more horsepower.

That reminds me of when my buddy cut the back end off of his Bobcat that has a 4-cyl. Wisconsin in it---and extended it by 18" and put a V-6 engine from a Mustang in it.

Anywho, I'd call the mfg. and try to talk to someone in either technical service and/or engineering. They may have done some tinkering on or off the record. There might be a "retrofit" or "repowering" motor available. SPeaking of which, do google Search for "repowering ________" and see what comes up. You can also do some research and visist your dealer and talk to mechanic who may know what other equipment that engine was used in and perhaps find a donor machine. An exmaple is I have a big Case trencher (1987 DH5) that has the same 4-cyl. diesel used in dozers and backhoes---good to knpow if I want to get dozer cheap with a bad motor (a good, used motor can fetch $3500-$5000). ....

John, you were misled.

The 1902 is definitely not in production, but neither are they gone. A huge number of them still roll up and down the Interstates every day. They are the number 1 power supply in the refer. units on refrigerated transport trucks.

Check with Thermo Parts Supply in Houston, amongst others, they have a wharehouse full of them, they are about $2, 450 for a reman. and a $1,000 core deposit.

Best of luck. ....

Thanks Murf, I spent some time on the phone and found a 1902 close to home. The guy I called has one on the shelf rebuilt. The place I took the engine charged me over 700.00 to tell me the engine was junk! well I already knew that. And then told me the cost to rebuild was going to be 7000.00. I think were going to be boxing. So I have a 1902 engine, thanks for your help. ....
